This Quiet Season by Jasper TX
Here we are. A third slaapwel release. This time it is by a friendly swedish dude called Dag Rosenqvist who releases music under the name of Jasper TX. So far he released about three full length records which are all well recommended. I particulary like "In A Cool Monsoon". I think his music is best described as a slowed down/stripped down postrock sort of thing. Like if you would play Do Make Say Think at half the speed. It's very soft, melancholic and moving. For "This Quiet Season" he slows even more down. It is a very droning record, but still has bits of incredible soft melodies. Think of Stars of the Lid too, Eluvium would also be a good reference if you don't know what Jasper TX sounds like. "This Quiet Season" lasts for about 40 minutes which are divided into six compositions. All made up with guitar, reverby electronics and some piano. At least that's what I hear. It has been composed in the winter of 2007-2008 and the artwork has been made by Astrid Y - the cdr still being wrapped in the awesome arrigato paks made at stumptownprinters. Even more so than the two previous ones this record will definitly make you fall asleep. The length, the soft variation and the soothy-ness of this record are all close to ideal when you're trying to get lost into your sleep.
